Agenda 3/5/2020

Bell work:  Sit in your usual seat.  Write HW in your planner and locate your IA Notebook.  Turn to page 83.  Obtain a highlighter.

Homework:

  • Reading Log #8 for late credit.  Tuesday is last day.

  • FINISH RACE paragraphs by tomorrow (beginning of class).

  • Study for Friday’s test on Marigolds (pp. 83-87) 

Class work:

  1. This is your JEOPARDY Group.

  2. Select a spokesperson and a score keeper.  Send scorekeeper to get supplies.

  3. Everyone should have a highlighter at this point.

  4. Score keeper uses dry erase board and marker to keep your group’s score.

  5. Spokesperson is the person who states your group’s category, dollar amount, and answer.  (Play along and state your answer in the form of a question.)

  6. Group will have a maximum of 30 seconds to state their answer.

  7. We will rotate to the next group if an incorrect answer is given.  (5 seconds)

  8. Begin to highlight the words you don’t know.  Maybe keep tally marks- these are the words you should be sure to study tonight.

  9. If time, get out your flashcards and quiz each other in your group.

  2. Sit with your JENGA GROUP

  3. Pages 86-87 complete full RACE paragraphs answering the questions on page 226

  • Restate the question(R)

  • Answer (What is your answer to the question?) (A)

  • Cite evidence (C)

  • Explain how this evidence supports your answer (E)

  • Use at least two transitions which “say” something.  Once used find new ones.

3. Move 8 and 5 (in that order) to the end.

4.  Send one group member with your completed paragraph. Be sure everyone in your group is finished before getting paragraph read by Schroyer.

5.  All correct paragraphs are worth ONE JENGA block.

6.  Time ends when first group to get all RACE paragraphs completed or time is called. Towers will be measured to determine a winner.  EVERYONE IN GROUP MUST HAVE THEIR PARAGRAPHS COMPLETED in order to win.

  3. There are approximately 40 paragraphs.

  4. Take your time and do this well rather than rushing through.

  5. If you require more work to do, complete page 225 on separate paper.  You may also move on to page 227.

  • Complete Cornell Notes on 83 FIRST!!!

  • Create a matching game using our 10 vocabulary words.

  • Get 20 pieces of scrap paper to use for your game. (You are making two sets.)

  • One box of markers

  • YOU MUST THEN FOLD EACH PINK PAPER SO THE WRITING DOESN’T GO THOUGH!!!

  • Write the 10 words on the front of each set of 10.  (Each word on two card.)

  • Write the definition of the word on the back.

  • Second set, on the back, is the following:

  1. connotation, synonym, antonym

  2. author’s purpose for using that word

  3. original sentence (not from the story) with a blank for the best vocab word

  4. Max of two per category..

  • You and your partner can practice playing the game to see if there are any problems.
